The Site is Up

Well, at long last the new site seems to be up. A few of you may have to wait longer for the propagation to complete, but from what I can tell, everything is running smoothly.

Most the the site will look the same, however there are a few minor changes. First of all, I have heard several complaints about the amount of clicks necessary to move around the site. In that end, the galleries, writings and movie review sections have removed all paging from the listing of articles. This may have to be replaced as the site grows, but I’m sure I can do a better job than before.

Secondly, under the art section, I have added comments to most of the pictures along with information about the camera/film used.

Thirdly, the blog, which used to run using blogger, has been replaced with a WordPress system. This allows me a much larger amount of flexibility in posting as well has some additional cute features.

Finally, I have removed the Forums and Misc sections. The forums were never exactly what I wanted and now that the comments section is far more robust, I should be able to carry on conversations with my rare visitors. The Misc section has never filled out, so it is no great loss. I’ll replace it with some contact information.

Well, I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

  1. Glad to see you got the site up and running. I’ve enjoyed WordPress alot more than just the basic Blogger tools so I hope you enjoy the new functionality as much as I do. The slimmed down version of the site is better. I’ve been looking at getting rid of my forums as well due to the fact that they are never used. Oh well…

  2. Cool! There seems to be a CSS issue for me here at work on IE 5.5 – the blog entries are squeezed all the way down below the righthand menu. Let me know if I can provide any more helpful info…

  3. It’s not so much a stylesheet issue as it is an image size issue. Those images are too large for the design at 1024X768 and smaller. I was resizing them all down to thumbnails but I don’t really like the look of that, so I’m really looking at a good redesign taht will take full use of the monitor. It’s about time I started using good web design techniques, especially for sites that have a lot of images.
