Another bicyclist was hit while riding. It happened about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. As word spread in the cycling community, so did concern about the growing number of cyclists who are injured or killed because of a crash with a car. Wednesdays crash happened near Northwest 150th and Penn. Cyclist Zack Perkins was so seriously injured that paramedics rushed him to the hospital by medical helicopter.

Zack is an area competitive cyclist and VP of DNA Racing. According to the DNA Racing Facebook Page, he is suffering from a broken sternum, some broken ribs and a punctured lung. He is still in ICU but is listed in fair condition.

According to Oklahoma State Statute, bicyclists are lawfully entitled to ride with the flow of traffic. They should bike to the far right side of the road near the white line when possible. Drivers need to give a cyclist three feet of space if they attempt to pass.
