I’m always glad to see the Oklahoma cycling community coming together to remember those lost on the roads. In this case, fellow riders have erected a bench to Beverly Duffield, a cyclist killed last year in a auto related crash: Friends of avid cyclist Beverly Duffield gathered at one of her favorite trails Sunday to honor her life and remember the tragic circumstances of her death. Sand Springs Woman Pleads Guilty in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Sorry, I’m having to play a bit of catch up right now. Work has kept me away from the blog for awhile so some of this may be old news. However, last year’s fatal hit-and-run crash in Sand Springs seems to be nearing it’s final closure: Tausha Borland, 39, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence. Reward Offered for Information Regarding Death of Alan Spencer

The Oklahoman is reporting that a reward is now being offered for information regarding the hit-and-run crash involving Alan Spencer earlier this year: A $6,000 reward has been offered for information in connection with the death of an Edmond man who was hit while riding his bicycle. Alan Spencer, 56, was killed about 8:45 a.m. July 17 when he was struck from behind by a motor vehicle while riding south in the 12500 block of Midwest Boulevard. [Read More]

Fatal Crash Near Stillwater

Yet another fatal crash: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old driver hit and killed a bicyclist just west of Stillwater Sunday. Troopers said James Hazzard told them the sun was glaring in his eyes and he was adjusting his sunglasses when he swerved into the shoulder and hit 56-year-old Debra Miller. Another Cycling Fatality

I’m really getting tired and upset reporting on cyclists deaths in Oklahoma. This is purely anecdotal, but I don’t remember this many fatal accidents in recent memory. Last night, a man was killed near Woodward while riding at night. The story doesn’t give many details, but implies that the man was riding without proper lighting. Hit-And-Run Investigation Goes On

News9 is reporting on the families personal investigation into the hit-and-run killing of Alan Spencer three weeks ago: In the three weeks since the crash no one has come forward with information regarding the crash and now the Spencer family is desperate for answers. Bicyclist Killed in Accident in Oklahoma City

A cyclist has been killed here in Oklahoma City tonight. From NewsOK.com: About 9:15 p.m., James Smith II, 60, was riding southbound on his bicycle in the outside lane of N Rockwell Avenue near the Northwest Expressway when he made a sharp left turn, Holland said. The minivan was driving behind Smith and its driver could not stop in time or avoid him, and Smith hit the windshield and was then run over. [Read More]
