Storm at the Lake

Grace and I along with Gwen and Mercedes attended the Flaming Lips New Year’s Eve Freakout last night. I only had my camera phone which isn’t the best of cameras, but here are a few snapshots plus a video from a pretty amazing show:

So, with the help of my wonderful girlfriend Grace, I’ve been setting up makeshift photo booths at a variety of social events with friends and family. The picture quality isn’t usually great, but the captures are often fantastic. From the first shot which is usually a little stiff to the fourth shot when people have really loosened up, it’s a fun portrait exercise. Yeah, I know I only seem to be posting photos these days, but hey, at least I’m posting something . . .  Here are some pictures from the 2010 State Fair of Oklahoma:

So this year for my birthday, I got an awesome present. My girlfriend got us tickets to the Pixies at the Brady Theater, not to mention a room at historic Mayo Hotel and a little yellow sports car to drive up Route 66 for the show. Here is my gallery from the concert:

It’s been about two years since I had been in Chicago and it was great to see the old town again. This time there was no specific event to attend, so Grace and I lived it up as a couple of true tourists doing all those things I never really did when I lived there, such as the boat tours, Navy Pier and Second City. It was a wonderful trip with wonderful company . So after a break of 16 years, I hopped on the bike and headed out on Freewheel, Oklahoma’s cross state bicycle tour. I probably should have trained some for the ride because the first several days took a lot out of me and for the first time I came short by 30 miles one day. However, the ride was beautiful and by the end I was feeling top notch. I didn’t shoot much, but below are some pictures from the trip .
