14 Year Old Killed in Oklahoma City Crash

Another cycling fatality occurred yesterday near the corner of Northwest Expressway and MacArthur: Anthony Guzman, 14, was riding a 20-inch BMX bicycle in the 5700 block of Northwest Expressway when he tried to cross from south to north and was hit by an eastbound car. From KFOR News Channel 4: Another bicyclist was hit while riding. It happened about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. As word spread in the cycling community, so did concern about the growing number of cyclists who are injured or killed because of a crash with a car. Charges Filed in Debra Miller Death

I know I tweeted about this possibility awhile back, but I’m just now getting the story published. In any case, charges have been filed against James Hazzard in the death of Debra Miller: A negligent homicide charge was filed Thursday against a man who drove off state highway 51 and killed a Stillwater bicyclist riding on the shoulder, District Attorney Rob Hudson said. Sand Springs Cycling Community Remembers One of Their Own

I’m always glad to see the Oklahoma cycling community coming together to remember those lost on the roads. In this case, fellow riders have erected a bench to Beverly Duffield, a cyclist killed last year in a auto related crash: Friends of avid cyclist Beverly Duffield gathered at one of her favorite trails Sunday to honor her life and remember the tragic circumstances of her death. Reward Offered for Information Regarding Death of Alan Spencer

The Oklahoman is reporting that a reward is now being offered for information regarding the hit-and-run crash involving Alan Spencer earlier this year: A $6,000 reward has been offered for information in connection with the death of an Edmond man who was hit while riding his bicycle. Alan Spencer, 56, was killed about 8:45 a.m. July 17 when he was struck from behind by a motor vehicle while riding south in the 12500 block of Midwest Boulevard. [Read More]

Fatal Crash Near Stillwater

Yet another fatal crash: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old driver hit and killed a bicyclist just west of Stillwater Sunday. Troopers said James Hazzard told them the sun was glaring in his eyes and he was adjusting his sunglasses when he swerved into the shoulder and hit 56-year-old Debra Miller.
