It’s been two years since the Oklahoma cycling community was shocked by two bicycle fatalities in less than 48 hours both involving long time cyclists. The Oklahoman is reporting that a reward is now being offered for information regarding the hit-and-run crash involving Alan Spencer earlier this year: A $6,000 reward has been offered for information in connection with the death of an Edmond man who was hit while riding his bicycle. Alan Spencer, 56, was killed about 8:45 a.m. July 17 when he was struck from behind by a motor vehicle while riding south in the 12500 block of Midwest Boulevard. [Read More]

News9 is reporting on the families personal investigation into the hit-and-run killing of Alan Spencer three weeks ago: In the three weeks since the crash no one has come forward with information regarding the crash and now the Spencer family is desperate for answers. So, following up on the request for information I posted earlier, it appears the cyclist in question was involved in an apparent hit and run crash. About 8:15 a.m., a passer-by reported a bicyclist in a ditch in the 12600 block of N Midwest Boulevard, just north of NE 122, Patty said. Update 07/17/2010 6:35 PM: This appears to be an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run crash. Click here for details Steve Schlegel of Schelgel Bicycles just posted this on a couple of the area mailing lists and I thought it was very worth of being passed along . . . I was just notified to a mishap involving an un identified rider. OKC Police are needing assistance in identifying a rider.
