Edmond Holds Bicycle Master Plan Open House

Sorry for the short notice, but I missed this one somehow. However, tonight (March 8th) , the City of Edmond will kick off its bicycle master plan development process with an open house: City of Edmond invites you to participate in the Bicycle Master Plan Open House from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8 in the Downtown Community Center. Project 365 - Day 57: Cranksgiving

I had the opportunity right before Thanksgiving to take part in a fun cycling event called Cranksgiving. This informal ride takes part in many places around the country and consists of several stops at area grocery stores where riders will pick up selected food items which will then be donated to an area food bank. Since I can never compete on speed, I put Ms. Blu Haul to good use by going for the most weight which ended up being about 40 lbs of can goods. [Read More]

I tweeted about this during the last OBS meeting, but the OBS is putting together a great bicycle oriented fundraiser for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. On November 13th, cyclists will be given seven locations and seven items to pick up. At each pick up, riders will be given a playing card. Best poker hand at the end of the ride gets the grand prize. Edmond Seeking Consulting Services for Bicycle Master Plan

Edmond has made several important bicycle changes lately including the simplification and clarification of bicycle regulations and the installation of new bicycle route signs. It now appears that they are making a concerted effort to put together a bicycle master plan for the entire city. Edmond City Council Passes 3-Foot Rule

Following the cue of Oklahoma City and Norman, the Edmond City Council has passed an ordinance change that requires vehicles to pass cyclists with at least 3-feet of distance. Violation of the ordnance comes with a fine of not more than $500. The Ordinance also makes several other changes to cycling rules in Edmond: It officially defines a bicycle as a vehicle when traveling on the road ways. OBS Streak on September 12th

It’s that time again, OBS Streak time. It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden this one, but it remains one of the staples of the OKC cycling community. This year the ride will be held on September 12th at 7:30 AM at Mitch Park in Edmond. There will be 25 mile, 40 mile and 100K routes along with a Family Fun Ride within the park. Registration is $20 ($25 if recieved after 8/30/2010) for each adult and $10 for children. [Read More]

Accident Victim Recovers to Ride Again
