I am very confused as to what exactly their plan was for the highly recognizable therefore difficult to sell bicycles, but two men have been arrested for stealing bicycles from the new Spokies bike share program: On May 22, police were called to the WestTown Day Shelter near N.W. 3rd Street and N. KFOR is reporting that three bicycles were stolen last Friday (09/23) from local cyclist, Craig Staley. Below is description of the three missing bicycles: 2010 Specialized Tarmac (Left rear seat is scuffed and the 130 mm stem has GATA written in silver on top. 2010 Specialized Stumpjumper Carbon 29er (Right seat stay cracked and repaired and one spindle is broken on the right pedal) 2010 Specialized Crux (Cyclocross bike, Red and black) Additionally, wheels, racing shoes and thousands of dollars worth of tools were taken. I reported a few weeks back about Jim Reading’s stolen Red and Black Cervelo. Well, great news for the new year, according to the family’s Facebook Page, the bicycle has been recovered by the Moore Police Department. The bicycle is apparently in perfect condition. Additionally, an arrest was made in relation to the case. It’s not too often that stolen bicycles are recovered, so this is just great news for the Reading family! [Read More]

David M. has reported on several of the bicycle mailing lists that his 2011 Black and White Specialized Roubaix road bicycle has been stolen from the garage of his Norman home. It is 52cm and it’s serial number is: STAT210C0931.  Any information regarding this bike should be reported to the Norman Police Department at (405) 321-1600 under case #2010-16566.   Below is a example picture of the bike in question:

UPDATED 1/1/2011: This bicycle was recovered in perfect condition by the Moore Police Department. Full details here. Many of you probably met Jim Reading at some point. He was a local cyclist who passed away on July 17th after a battle with leukemia. Well, to make matters worse, on Monday his beautiful Red & Black Cervelo R3 was stolen from the family in Oklahoma City.
